The Gameness Feather variant is the new and improved version of the traditional and more popular Gameness Pearl gi. The Feather too has a Pearl weave making it light yet strong at the same time. Additionally, the type of cotton and used by Gameness gives the Feather a soft touch both inside and outside.
This gi may not be as fancy as some of the other gis on the market, but it does the job in hand and should certainly not be looked down on. A great practice outfit that could easily transfer to competitive playing, as long as you are not looking for something special.
The design of the Feather is honestly not its strong point and we wouldn’t recommend that you buy it if a good looking gi is what you are after. That is not to say that it is an ugly gi, it does have some attractive points.
Patches can be found on both shoulders, chest, lapel, and lower skirt, but the back of the gi is plain all over. The few patches that can be found on the Feather are in line with other Gameness gis and make the brand very noticeable.
The material used in the jacket is a lightweight pearl weave and the pants are made from ripstop fabric that has reinforcements on the crotch and the knees.
Gameness Feather Gi
The light weave of this gi’s jacket means that it is a very comfortable choice without losing its strength. Reviewers have commented on the rubberized collar, stating that the lapels are flexible and light, which stops them from chaffing against the neckline.
A lot of feedback has stated that this gi is on the larger size and others have said that they like the extra little bit of room in the sleeves as it adds to comfort levels.
A quick tip for anyone thinking about dying a gi, you should plan to wash them and dry them completely to shrink them up. If the gi you’re thinking about dying has been line dried and you will have to worry about shrinkage. You might not want to dye a gi that has not shrunk yet. This gi does shrink slightly, especially in the pants but not so that it is very noticeable.
The Feather is very true to size and there is no significant shrinkage to worry about when considering what size to buy.
The Gameness feather Gi is made to last and we are confident that Gameness lives up to athletes expectations. The Gameness feather Gi includes a pair of military rip stop pants. There is great reinforcements in key areas, such as the knees, sleeves and crotch and will withstand lots of rolling and grappling.
The weave is remarkably similar in the Bad Boy and the Gameness Feather Gi. It’s a soft weave that’s comfortable and lightweight. Both feel strong. Having worn both, I’ll say that the Gameness seems to expand a bit when sweaty, while the Bad Boy remains tighter.
Single weave Ultra light weight Pearl Weave fabric is perfect for summer training, competitions, or just because you want a light comfortable gi. Our single weave gi is more durable than other single weave kimonos.
The pants of this BJJ gi are made from an unusually stiff ripstop fabric. The pants do not have any patches and they have 2 belt-loops, and come with a heavy cotton belt.
Some people have complained about the comfort levels of the pants, finding them a little too roomy and not very soft on the skin, but this is evened out by the great strength and durability, which is needed if you are going to be practicing lots.
Athletes who like a gi made from a light but durable material and do not want to stand out too much, will find that the Feather will tick all of the boxes. Gameness boasts that this gi is up there with the best in tournament outfits and we struggle to disagree with them. This is definitely an understated gi that will not shine but will quietly do its job. At a very reasonable price, this gi is a sound investment for those starting out.
